CoolSculpting cools a pinchable pocket of fat to a temperature that kills fat cells and spares skin, nerve and muscle. The body clears the dead cells over the following three months and the pocket shrinks by about a fifth to a quarter per session. It is not weight loss, it does not tighten skin, and it works only on the right patient. The treated pocket shrinks by about twenty to twenty-five percent per session, visible from six weeks and complete at three months. Clothes fit differently; the scale does not move. A second session removes a similar fraction of what remains.
The result lasts as long as your weight does. The removed cells do not return; the remaining cells enlarge with weight gain, so the contour is preserved by a stable weight rather than by the treatment.

No. It removes about a fifth to a quarter of the fat cells in a treated pocket and reshapes a contour. The scale does not change. It works best on a stable weight.
The first few minutes feel cold with pulling and pinching, then the area goes numb. The post-cycle massage is briefly uncomfortable. Afterward the area is tender and numb for weeks rather than painful.
One session per area gives a visible change. Many patients choose a second session on the same area from eight weeks to take more.

If the skin is elastic it retracts over the smaller pocket. If it is already loose, freezing can make it look worse, which is why skin is assessed before treatment and tightening or surgery recommended instead where needed.
A rare reaction in which the treated fat enlarges over months instead of shrinking. It is more common in men and on the abdomen. It is recognised at follow-up and treated with liposuction.
