Board-certified dermatologist and founder of Rejuvenation Calgary South. Fourteen years of training across the full range of skin medicine, from skin cancer surgery to injectable artistry, under one disciplined practice.
Skin is the only organ a patient sees every day. It deserves a specialist who treats it as a discipline, not a menu.
Most clinics ask a patient to choose between medical care and aesthetic care, between a surgeon and an injector. Dr. Kuzel built his practice to refuse that trade. One dermatologist, trained across the whole field, who can read a suspicious lesion and refine a jawline with the same anatomical eye.
That range is earned, not claimed. A pharmacology degree, a medical doctorate, and a Royal College fellowship in dermatology. Fourteen years before the first patient ever called him their dermatologist. The depth is the point. It is what lets a single physician carry a patient from a skin check to a surgical excision to a cosmetic plan, without a single handoff.
Six domains of dermatology, practised by one physician. Select a domain, then tap any treatment to learn more.
A thorough head-to-toe examination of moles, spots, and lesions, often using a dermatoscope, to catch skin cancer early.
Anyone with a personal or family history of skin cancer, many moles, fair skin, or significant sun exposure.
A painless visual exam, usually 15 to 30 minutes. Anything suspicious can be biopsied or monitored, and a follow-up cadence is set with you.
Diagnosis and treatment of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma, tailored to the type and stage.
Patients with a confirmed or suspected skin cancer, or a lesion that has changed in size, shape, or colour.
Care may involve biopsy, surgical removal, or topical and light-based therapy. Your plan and outlook are discussed before anything proceeds.
Medical control of active acne and procedural treatment of the textural scarring it can leave behind.
Teens and adults with persistent breakouts, hormonal acne, or scarring that has not responded to over-the-counter products.
A staged plan that may combine prescription therapy with lasers or microneedling. Clearing active acne comes first, then scar work.
Diagnosis and management of eczema, an inflammatory condition that leaves skin dry, itchy, and easily irritated.
Children and adults with recurring itch, redness, and flares, especially where creams alone are not enough.
A plan spanning topicals through to advanced systemic options for stubborn cases, with triggers identified along the way.
Management of psoriasis, a chronic immune-driven condition that produces scaly, inflamed plaques.
Patients with persistent plaques on the scalp, elbows, knees, or elsewhere who want more than temporary relief.
Options span topical, light-based, and modern systemic therapy, matched to severity and how the condition affects your life.
Treatment of rosacea and persistent facial redness using medical therapy and vascular laser.
Anyone with flushing, visible vessels, or redness across the cheeks and nose that worsens with triggers.
A combined plan to calm inflammation and reduce visible vessels. Laser sessions are quick, with redness settling over the following days.
Care for atopic dermatitis, a chronic inflammatory condition causing itch and irritation.
Patients of any age with long-standing, itchy, inflamed skin that flares and recurs.
Medical management from topicals to advanced systemic therapy, focused on reducing flares and protecting the skin barrier.
Treatment of melasma, a stubborn pigmentation pattern often triggered by hormones and sun.
Patients with brown or grey-brown patches across the cheeks, forehead, or upper lip, often worsened by sun.
A gentle, layered approach using topicals, sun protection, and careful resurfacing. Melasma is managed over time rather than cured in one session.
Treatment of actinic keratoses, the rough precancerous spots left by years of sun exposure.
Patients with scaly, sandpaper-like spots on sun-exposed skin, particularly fair-skinned and older adults.
Quick in-clinic options such as cryotherapy, topicals, or photodynamic therapy, chosen by the number and location of spots.
A light-activated treatment that targets precancerous cells and certain acne using a photosensitising agent and a specific light.
Patients with widespread actinic keratoses, or those seeking a treatment that also improves overall sun-damaged skin.
The agent is applied and left to absorb, then activated by light. Some redness and peeling follow for several days.
Controlled ultraviolet light treatment, known as phototherapy, delivered in clinic.
Patients with psoriasis, eczema, or vitiligo who want a light-based alternative or addition to topicals.
Brief, repeated sessions over several weeks, with dosing carefully increased and monitored by the team.
Removal of warts and milia, the small keratin bumps that form near the skin surface.
Anyone bothered by persistent warts or small white bumps that do not resolve on their own.
Quick in-clinic treatment by cryotherapy, electrocautery, or extraction. Some warts need more than one visit.
Treatment of hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, most often with neuromodulator injections.

A series of small injections to the area. Results build over a week or two and typically last several months.
Neuromodulator treatment for chronic migraine and for TMJ-related jaw tension, clenching, and grinding.
Patients with frequent migraines or jaw clenching and facial tension who want a non-oral option.
Targeted injections in clinic. Relief develops over one to two weeks and is maintained with repeat sessions. Coverage may apply for medical indications.
A purified protein that temporarily relaxes targeted muscles to soften the lines made by repeated expression.

I think I was 50 when I started coming here. I'm almost 62 years old now. I went through a time in my life where I wouldn't walk out of my house without makeup. I was very, very self-conscious. What Dr. Kuzel and his staff here have done for me is give me back my confidence.
About ten years ago, when Corrine went for her first aesthetic dermatology treatment, she didn't even tell her husband. "It felt kind of taboo," she says. Since those early days, visiting Dr. Kuzel has become part of her routine of self-care.
It has also become an opportunity to spend quality time with her daughter, Lonnie, who started coming for acne care treatments as a teenager. "Now, when we come here, we always laugh so much together. I think that's a reflection of how good we feel about this place. Dr. Kuzel has that effect on people. He really does."
I love coming here. Even if it's for nothing crazy, it's a great experience. The girls sit me down and ask me if I want something to drink and eat and give me this full experience. So even though I may not be getting anything glamorous done, for me, it feels glamorous.
When you have "a ton of moles" on your skin, visits to the dermatologist are just part of your regular healthcare routine. It is nerve-wracking to wonder if they are changing or getting worse. "I don't want skin cancer," she says. "That's my number one thing."
That is why Karin appreciates the conscientious, capable dermatology care she gets from Dr. Kuzel. "He's always on the case, you know? Let's check this one, let's get rid of that one. So when he says I'm good, I can relax because I'm confident it's okay."
That confidence isn't the only thing that puts Karin at ease. She says the spa-like atmosphere helps her relax and unwind after a hectic day. "The clinic is so beautiful. You feel pampered. They take you back and offer you food and drink while you're waiting. They've got the fireplace going, soft music playing, and you can just relax."
It's so easy to make time for everybody else when you have a family. I had neuromodulator injections last week, the first in years. After I had the treatment, I thought, why did I stop doing this? I love what this does. I just feel great.
When you're a mom with a busy family, making time for yourself can be hard. "Life is pretty hectic. I probably wouldn't have made time to come if it was just me," says Lonnie.
Fortunately, it isn't just her. Lonnie's mom Corrine doesn't like to drive the highway, so she asks Lonnie to take her to appointments at Dr. Kuzel's clinic. "I was going there anyway, so I figured I might as well start getting treatments too." The results of these treatment days together have been much more than skin-deep.
"This has become our time, our mother-daughter time and our self-care time. It's nice coming here and we always have a good time. We're doing something we're both interested in, something that makes us feel really good."
My goal is just to maintain and look refreshed. After a treatment, I feel confident, not overdone. No one's ever asked me if I'd had anything done. Dr. Kuzel is so reserved, it's always subtle and beautiful.
For Karen, cosmetic dermatology is all about reserve and trust. It is something she has in spades with Dr. Kuzel. "You never wonder, what am I going to look like? At the end of the day, if you've got that trust, you can just kind of settle in and enjoy yourself."
One of the things Karen likes about going to the clinic is that everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. "What you notice when you come in here is all the laughter. It's a happy place to be. And Dr. Kuzel is always good at making you feel comfortable."
Over the years, Karen has trusted Dr. Kuzel, not just with her treatments, but with knowing the best way to achieve the results she's looking for. "He just looks at you and knows what to do to help you look your best. I totally trust him to make it look natural."
